BSA B50 ‘Gold Star’ 500SS

If in doubt, or it doesn't seem to fit elsewhere - put it here.

That is very clever.. makes finding TDC much easier. Probably a right-hand thread on the crank so was a good idea to remove the spark plug.

I was mounting the ignition- no issues with the magnetic rotor. But when I tried to install the stator- the only position I could mount it and still (barely) get the wires through meant I would have no adjustment at all. That means I better get it spot on or I have to remove and retime the rotor again (taper fit).

I’ve emailed seller for ideas. I could possibly open the slots a bit more-but do not want to do that unless instructed since it would certainly void the warranty.

]To solve the issue of getting both the wires out and stator in middle of adjustment- I modeled and 3D printed a cover with side hole.
I do not know how well this particular material will hold up to engine heat- but I could use either high temp nylon if so- or just make it out of aluminium. I could make it or send the file off and have it CNC.
I need to go pick up some countersunk screws. I do not have many imperial screws/bolts/nuts.

I realized a made a bit of a mistake. I made a hole through the side- but that means I would have to have very small connectors so snake the cable back through if I need to replace or even take off completely the cover.
So I modified so a wide slot- allowing it to pop right off. I will just 3D print a flexible seal for that area and the original points wire hole.
