As of last night I had never heard of a site like this. My bro is on here and has been actively involved in bikes since the early 60s.. I will let him tell you who I am in the relationship. Not that I am a renegade or anything but a biker for over 65 years. I now have a number of non bike activities. I am a private pilot, airplane owner, avid boater and fishing aficionado, a Station Officer in our local VFD and live in the sportsman's paradise of Louisiana.
I started out two wheeling on a Doodle Bug scooter, bought for me by my Dad just after the WWII ended. We lived in a small town in Arizona that had lots of country roads to explore. A nickles worth of gas would take me a mile or two in any direction. We moved to Phoenix in 1947 and the only places to ride safely was the Deer Valley Airport There were lots of dirt berms that had housed Military planes. It was fun to help (by pushing) that little 3HP Briggs and Stratton motor to chug up the side of one then ride at the top speed of 5MPH down the hill. I also got introduced to the airplane bug there. There were some ex military pilots that went into business of converting old Stearman Biplanes into crop dusters. Me being all of 11 years old I finally weaseled my way into a ride. That short ride turned an kids interest into a life long love for airplanes.

I've owned lots of scooters and bikes along the way. After the doodle Bug, one of the first was a Cushmann Eagle. This was a bike I never got to keep for long. A tentative trade was being worked out by Dad and his friend. Before we traded my Doodle Bug, the son of Dads friend had a serious accident and banged up the bike and himself. I had only gotten to ride it for a few times and loved it. Long story short . . . down the line an AJS Scrambler, a Ducatti, a BSA 500, a Harley Davidson, two Triumphs, 4 Yamaha brand new dirt bikes, 2 Bultacos, an Ossa and a Maico dirt bikes. Many happy hours astraddle of those machines but began to take back seats to airplanes. Retired in 1990 after almost 30 years at TWA. Now need a full time job to have some spare time!
